I know I'm terrible for this... every year I tell myself "I'm going to be well prepared this year and buy all the presents in advance so I don't stress nearer the time".

Today is the 4th December, and so far I've only finished the kids presents, done nothing else, no idea what to buy for my better half... :/

Just curious to see when everyone else starts buying?
I have a friend who started preparing 4 months ago!!

Well some years ago I used to start in January as you often got *proper bargains*, These days there is a permanent sale so why bother. ITs the 4th today and I've not started yet. Might have something to do with the fact I HATE shopping with a passion though.

I am not sure I understand the question. I will pop to the shops on Christmas Eve and buy a few bits. Food shopping is entirely normal - I do not, as a matter of fact, require additional food for Christmas.

Ok I will rephrase... when do you start buying Christmas presents for your loved ones in preparation for Christmas...?

    Ah. 23rd December.

However, bear in mind that my children are all left home and grown up! When they were children, I obviously started sooner!

I keep on planning from January only and on 24th Dec (most of times) I realize Oh! Tomorrow is Christmas . Well thanks for this thread for reminding. This weekend I will surely get gifts (for myself also) :joyful:

    What Christmas is nearly here:eek

I usually have a mad rush to get christmas presents around 23/24.

I hate buying presents for my mother. I'll ask her what she wants, and she'll always reply with "Oh, anything". A staff member in Tesco's gave me such a funny look when I asked her if they sold anything.

Last Monday in October or First Monday in November. Shops are well stocked with potential presents but not crowded with people who are still getting over half term. Optimum time.

My son's birthday is at the end of November so this year I thought I'd buy tons of toys at the end of October then split them between his birthday and Christmas and plan to stop shopping after that. That didn't go so well effectively I haven't stopped Christmas shopping since the end of October which means I've gone way overboard on the gifts always thinking oh I'll just get one more thing and put it away for Christmas (You can see where this is going!) I've ended up with a room full of Christmas presents and not enough people to give them all to - Damn you eBay and your 60% off deals! :banghead: Next year I'll be leaving it as late as I can probably sometime after I complete a shopaholics anonymous workshop lol! (y)

Smashed all mine in the space of 2 hours online in the first weekend of December. I don't like shopping at the best of times but when the crowds get like they do in December I absolutely despise it! This has been my most succesful year.

I've just finished wrapping mine and actually I think I smashed the online shopping - realised I've bought next to nothing in physical shop. Not sure if that's good or bad!

Physical shops are full of panicky people this time of year, everyone acting like the World is coming to an end, running from one shop to the other.
Much prefer ordering online and let the courier do the running around for me.
Although, I ordered Christmas cards this morning from Funky Pigeon, 1st class postage (let's hope they get here on time). As if I was going to pay £6.75 for next business day delivery for a flipping card!! Pfft!!

I prefer to avoid the shops altogether this time of year. Online is the least stressful way of doing Christmas shopping. I visited the shops the first week of December, even then they were quite busy. Since then I've gone on Amazon and eBay!

I try to do all my shopping online during the year to spread costs. Then have the fun of hiding gifts from four children around the house and not forgetting where I put them! I hate shops, malls even more, too noisy and bring on anxiety attacks!
