The Apple Watch (especially the Edition) is quite interesting.

Apple has always positioned itself in the "affordable luxury" end. Though their products are expensive and luxurious, they are still at the affordable range.

This time, they are most likely entering a new territory. The Apple Watch Edition is definitely targeting the luxury market using the snob effect (the desire to own something that is very expensive or rare, for the supposed status one would gain by owning it).

It's interesting how this would turn out. But, they are approaching the market this time using the strategies used by the high fashion industry.

Well, considering that Swatch is already one of the largest characters in the watch industry, surely they've got a better shout than Apple?

    Good spot there @Maevla

Providing they work as well as the hype then Apple are about to do to the watch industry what they have done to the phone, camera and music industries.

However 'Watches' will still be to some men as 'Handbags' are to some women - life and ego affirming artworks to be craved, purchased and loved.

....I shall probably by the second or third generation version. I prefer leading edge not bleeding edge technology. Why pay to be a beta tester!
