Hi everyone, I've just started to seriously look into using Google+ as a tool. Most people on it are there with a purpose i.e. To share and network on Business, SEO, Marketing or any other topic of their interest.

Seen as how we're all interested in UK business why not have each other in our Circles? Just add your Google Plus ID/link to this thread and hopefully we can all circle each other and extend the reach of this community online.

    I'll start:
    Pete McAllister Google Plus

UKBL see you on G+ ;)

From a pure social networking point of view I can see your frustration. However having a well connected and active G+ account can help give you as an individual gain more authority. This is especially helpful for situations such as attaching G+ authorship to articles & web content you publish

    I've circled you both ;)

I am on it but I don't really see the point. I suppose that as it is google the more active we are on google+ the more advantage we get in the google rankings :(

I don't even know how to publicise my presence on there...

I've started being a little more active there but still finding it very 'one-way'.

Thanks, I've circled you Mark :)

Do you mean 'one-way' as in you providing information and not getting anything back, or you simply using it as an informational resource to read posts on?

I've found it pretty good for communication in the 'communities' sections (basically themed discussion groups). But in terms of general posts the interaction can be a little dry.

I'm finding it's turned out just like Facebook, LinkedIn and Ecademy; "hey, here's a link to my blog"...

Consequently I just do the same. :tdn: It's not what I'd call a network.

My experience is a bit different (but again I think it comes back to the communities thing). Because they're moderated members are discouraged from continually plugging their own material; as they know they'll get chucked.

Out in "the wild" of Google+ through I do see a lot of self promotion going on...

I have only recently started using it fully. It takes a while to get used it but its an excellent way to market different aspects of your professional work.

I will certainly follow you Pete but there's no reason why one can't have a UKBL Community, eh Mark?

Having a 'community for a community' on another network (if that's what you meant?) hasn't worked previously. I'm also now of the opinion that doing so is rather pointless, self-defeating and more than a little ironic!

The UKBL community is here and nowhere else.

    :)

If I just want to use Google+ as a business then is it possible to setup my profile as Stallfinder or am I supposed to do it under my own name and then register a page for my business?
