I've seen a few people using cartoon pictures of themselves on facebook, linkedin, and twitter. What do people think of these? Do they give a good images (i.e. friendly, fun, easy going, etc) or do they give a completely unprofessional impression?

I disliked them when they first appeared but they've grown on me - and it provides a light-hearted side.

I think Mark is right. He offered a deal for forum members a few years ago.

It isn't bravery, it is just a very good likeness (according to people who compare the two!) but without the blemishes and scars of the real face :D

I'm afraid not, no. His account fell dormant so was automatically removed. I'll ping him again. :)

Hello! Just re-registered! This is an interesting thread! I've been doing a few for Twitter users as well. Let me know if anyone wants one. £50.00 in colour, emailed as JPEG. Must be from good clear photos, though, to ensure satisfaction.

Thank for the heads up, Mark! Could be busier, though.

I think they are fun. I would probably keep in mind what niche/market you are in though, otherwise there could be a disconnect. If for example you were a funeral director, and then your picture is a cartoon of you grinning from ear to ear with your thumbs up...you get the idea ;-)

Sometimes it's about doing something different to everyone else to get noticed. If it got to the point where most people are using cartoons, then it would be time to switch back to be different again.

    Thanks
    Phil

    Simon,

I'd love that. Let me see if I can dig out a decent photo (could be difficult!)
