Microsoft Essentials I recommend for home users, ESET is a good alternative for businesses with more machines.
However, I use more of a proactive approach locking down computer accounts, using opendns to block nasties on the home network, and a good email provider that scans mail before delivering also with good anti-spam filtering. As a multi employee business I would serousily think about investing in web content filtering on top of opendns.
As a security IT consultant (turned software developer) I found 90% of such nasties come from A. people looking at stuff they shouldn't (unless you want to go blind

) and B. using computer administrative accounts for daily computer usage (Use a limited user account people! and switch as needed

).
