Default Armed Forces Day (today)

I see the forum is supporting Armed Forces Day today, 27th June 2009. I'd not heard of this until now. Is anyone here doing anything for it or participating in the event?

I was not aware that it was Armed Forces Day today Kay until you highlighted it.

Clearly those behind it are not covering enough bases on the marketing side of things.

Well, me neither. The first I heard of it at all was yesterday when I saw the banner for it on the top right of the forum and posted asking about it.

As B-Cal says, there didn't seem to be a lot of marketing going on.

It's was the first Armed Forces Day but it has replaced Veteran's Day which more people tend to know about it.

I didn't do anything but was quite touched that the Wimbledon centre court crowd gave a stand ovation in recognition of our Armed Forces.

For those that don't know Wimbledon have used volunteer Armed Forces stewards at the event since it started again after WWII.

It was rather a good moment.
