Google Analytics is probably the only one worth using for actual visitor tracking as it gives true results with out showing stats for scrapper , crawlers and spiders and any other thing that would count server side as a visitor. Much like AWstats counts absolutely everything.
Should you ever want to be taken seriously if you wanted to sell your website or business Google analytics would most likely get asked for and AWstats would be hugely discounted.
I personally wouldnt touch a website that hasnt got GA stats, too risky especially with higher value sites.

Google Analytics is fantastic and very flexible. The only downside is that making reports takes some getting used to. It looks at EVERYTHING though which is great

Google Analytics, especially now that you can setup event tracking and also social assisted conversion reports along with real time stats. Reports do take some time to get used to but worth spending some time setting them up.

Another +1 (ha) for Google Analytics from me. It's also easy peasy to set up custom flags/values - e.g if you want to track clicks on download links or very specific custom actions in the front-end of your website.

In my experience, it depends on your business model. Analytics in conjunction with webmaster tools offers much more of a detailed breakdown than the others, especially if you use G+1

If you use GA and adwords/goal tracking - you are TELLING the person who you are paying how much money you are making and that they should be charging you more.
They probably know more about how your site is functioning that you do.
I use GA but I am not naive enough to think they are doing it to get the data on my site and compare it to a million other ones....

Another question - How many people use the goal tracking or even anything beyond the list of numbers & the graph?

Definitely Google Analytics it is a fantastic free resource. It is essential to use goal tracking as well, seriously what is the point of tracking visitors without knowing your conversion rate? I presume a conversion (of some sort) is ultimately the purpose of your website so it’s imperative that you define and measure them.
Also, there is a great (and free) Excel plugin call Excellent Analytics which let's you query data from GA straight from Excel. A huge timesaver for me which might be useful for other website owners out there.

Another vote for Google Analytics! There is one called Web Analytics in Real Time | Clicky which I have used in the past.

I would have to say Google Analytics.
Recently it has started to improve and include the data from Google Webmaster tools.
