Default PR Question

Is it worth using services like PR Web and paying to have your press release uploaded there?

People say it's better now you have to pay because your release gets more exposure now it's not surrounded by spam, but I've never tried PR Web before.

Also I noticed, isn't PR Web mainly for the US market looking at their url list???

If your press release is a genuine press release and not just an announcement to gain links, then pay, if not then do the normal thing.

Default Both

Well, it would be both.

It would be a press release and also the purpose of which would be to gain links from online publications from media that may print it online as well as other press.

What is 'do the normal thing' ?? PR Web don't do free submissions any more if that's what you mean.

I guess I would need to see the release first. 'do the normal thing means hawk it around all the usual online pr sites.

Places like PR Web are great for inbound links and SEO but that is about it... no credible journo's that I know of use it and you are unlikely to get any relevant online coverage either.

There are other free places out there for releases that are relevant to the UK which are again good for SEO but not so good for coverage and these include;

http://www.pressbox.co.uk/cgi-bin/links/add.cgi
http://www.openpr.com/news/submit.html
http://express-press-release.net/sub...ss-release.php
http://www.publicrelations.uk.com/article_submit_uk.php
http://www.prlog.org/pub/manage.html

The best online media wire service we use is Daryl Wilcox and the Response Source wire. A well written release on there can result in good media exposure.

Hope this helps.

I agree with both the above. websites now have the emails of journo's shown on them. I have sent loads directly for clients
