Default 99.5% of Social Media Experts are clowns!

Worth watching, I think.

"we're going to live through a devastating social media bubble" [bursting, I assume he means].

Yup.

'Context'. Hmm.

I honestly don't understand why people are claiming to be 'experts'. Certainly by all means tout the skill of social media, but an expert in it?!

Jeeez...

on another business forum I use I remember a self proclaimed and influential "twitter guru" was getting less than 0.5% of her traffic from twitter.

These days you dont have to be an actual expert to be the best, you just have to market yourself and get eyeballs to your website it seems.

I just wanted to echo what's already been said. I don't think anyone can be an expert in it. I help people with their social media based on my own experience, in no way would I ever claim I'm an expert because it's such an evolving process.

I think it's probably possible to be in an expert, just most aren't .

And because there's not much in the way of formal training, it's easy for anyone to say they are if they've read a few blogs.

Because it's all changing quite quickly, it'd be hard to set up an official course to cover it all - to set the bar for standards. My brother studying marketing in college recently asked why they didn't look at Online Marketing.... so that says a lot.

I find for now, if people say they are an expert, they have to prove it! Don't just take their word for it!
