Default Writing Blogs

I'm fairly new to forums and I've been reading that if you write some blogs that it can help your seo. My business is a driving school. I have looked at some other blogs and it seems like you write an article and you reference your own business as much as possible. Would this mean if I wrote a blog I should mention the area I cover and specialties as much as possible? Any advice is very welcome. Thanks

Don't reference your business!!!! Just promote your knowledge. We did a blog write up about this whole problem yesterday INFOGRAPHIC | Business Blog Equals Lead Generation | Tactical Sales.

Basically a blog is meant for your to 'brag' about your knowledge. If you have an opinion with suitable proof then blog about it. Seriously stay away from 'cheesy' promotions of your services/products. Just link internally around your site, this is also good for SEO i.e. hyperlink keyword to another blog that is suitable.

In terms of SEO it will do wonders if you optimise the long tail keywords i.e. 'cheapest offers for driving lessons in location X'. However I've just done a quick scan of your website and because of the lack of links right now you will struggle to gain much motion in terms of rankings.

I'll keep the technical terms down for now but if you do want me to fully explain it all just drop me a DM (I just deleted half the reply because I went full SEO nerd)

Another cool infographic for keyword research How To Do Keyword Research - The Beginners Guide to SEO

Hope this helps.

The 'bait' is in you writing the blog here on the forums in the first instance. When people search for things, and if you've written a good article with good keywords*, the search engines will pick it up. They click, come here, read your article and think 'hey, great article, what a knowlegable guy... who is he? Oh, there's his signature link... <*click*>

That's how proper article marketing works. Littering an article for SEO with links is spammy and anyone reading it will just think you're desperate and they'll 'set to ignore'!

You should write articles for inclusion on your own site of course but also write 'guest' articles on places like here which have greater 'Page Rank' than your site does. The search engines like to see links from external sources as it gives your site so-called authorotative 'weight' (apparently).

That said, with a Full Membership here, you have your own blog space where you can link away to your heart's content (but see advice above).

Feel free to write articles here - your subject matter expertise alone will 'sell' you.

*write naturally [for a human] and good keywords will happen naturally.

[edit: Doesn't have to be full blow articles either - consider maybe posting a few driving tips or start a discussion on a topical motoring subject in our motoring forum?

)
They like to see lots of them too. Again stay away from the odd websites that somehow involve Loans, Viagra or just anything along those lines.

External links are like a recommendation to say the least. At this stage it would be wise to spend more time writing guest articles and building up some sort of presence on social media.

...oh, and don't beat yourself up over writing articles or starting topics.

Some of the most successful forum users I know simply maintain a 'daily presence' by answering peoples questions and getting involved in discussion. By doing so, they get their name out there and establish themselves as an authority [expert]. It's as simple as you want it to be!

That's great. Thanks. As you can probably tell I'm not sure what I should be doing to improve my web page ranking. I would really appreciate it if you went into full seo nerd. If you can tell me what I should do to improve things step by step. I have looked at seo for beginners but I'm not even sure where to start. If you have any simple changes that might help that would be great. Also how can I improve my links count? I thought I was doing really well getting to 36 as it's been so slow and hard. I have spent a lot of time trying to create links that never seem to come through. Am I missing something? What actually creates a link? How many links does it take to affect seo. Is it when I register on a forum? Or when I post on a forum? Or is there an easy way of doing it? My friend created my web site and while he is employed in I.T he doesn't normally create web sites so he is learning as he goes. That's why I'm not sure if the back ground is right. We have about 100 key words, maybe more. And there are lots of different variations of the same words or phrases. I'm beginning to think this is the wrong thing to do. All advice gratefully accepted. The easier to follow the better. I know there are lots of questions so any help is welcome. Thanks a million.

In my opinion the production of blog posts is flawed as a means of generating leads.

Yes it can increase traffic, we have 3 sites listed with Google news, these drag in a ton of visitors but conversion is always going to be poor.

Blog posts are generally formulated around the production of information.

Over the past 2 years I have been working hard on the production of selling pages, this is having a positive effect in regards to lead generation.

Whatever route you go down it's important to know how to:

1. Produce web pages that visitors find interesting

2. Understand optimisation if you want to generate traffic from organic search

3. Base the pages around quality keywords

4 Write often

Good luck
