Default Using LinkedIn to Get More Business

I don’t use LinkedIn much so I thought I give it one last try. I attended a webinar earlier today and thought I’d share some of my notes.

Rank better in search results

Chose the keywords you want to be found for. Go the your profile and make sure they appear in:
- your headline
- current & past work experience
- your summary about 2-3 times
- specialize section
- education & training

Also while you are doing that if you keep getting those ‘improve your profile’ messages – you might as well do that too.

Create your own Group

What kind of group would your potential customers join – look for a unique group niche or create a group for your specific town/area.

Answer those questions

Apparently you can get more clients this way. Answer relevant questions include as much useful information as possible. When you have answered your question, increase the chances of making a lead by personally by sending them a private message. Offer them further 15 mins of help over the phone then you can offer your professional services to them – make a sale!

Share share share

This is something I sort of already do. When I’m reading a blog post I share it to my groups. If you have written your own article/ blog post then put the link it to the share box on the LinkedIn homepage and share with everyone. Click more and then click share to share with your groups and Twitter.

Well I hope some of you find this useful...!

I've been studying this lately, and optimising your profile seems to be key.

Some companies charge £1000s to do it for you - so it must be worth something!

One thing you missed (not to pick holes!) is getting recommendations, and to make as many good contacts as possible, then you have more access to 2nd and 3rd network people.

Useful info. I have had business through linkedin but only from people that I already new. Having said that they may not have automatically come to me if we had not been linked on linkedin! I must put more work into my company pages on linkedin though!
