Default Speed limiters

The government is considering whether speed limiters should be fitted to all cars - see this article.BBC NEWS | UK | Calls for 'speed-limiting' cars.

Is this a good idea; would it really work in practice?

Another insidious example of how our "non-elected" prime minister is seeking to control us

Labour really can't stand the idea that we can think for ourselves which is why they are constantly trying to erode our freedoms and tax us to the point where we can barely exist.

This January is the first time all the rolled up tax rises that were published in budgets several years ago hit us. Even for the most skilled of us in the tax reduction business, the final tax figures achieved for any business with half decent profits is eye-watering now

The phrase coined by independent consultants is "inappropriate speed" but I will advocate that bad driving is a far more pressing issue.

Also another insight into the minds of people bereft in terms of ideas or imagination. The fact that we have people in power who appear to be so stupid has gone way past a joke, it is very worrying.

This blog had as weeping with laughter over Xmas.

I think this is a very poor idea.

Speed, by itself, it not dangerous, it is, as stated above, inappropriate speed, and speed in the hands of poor drivers. But, a poor driver at 70 is still a menace.

It will have major economic impact on the motor trade.

It is easy to delimit.

It is not the number one issue of the day, Mr Brown. Focus on the economy. Please. Just for once.

Exactly. In my opinion, the most dangerous thing on the roads are 'zombie' drivers. With smooth suspension, air con and the radio turned it, it's all too easy to forget that you're actually controlling a tonne of fast-moving metal.

I don't think the driving test helps. It focuses on going through the motions of doing things the 'right' way and only touches on driver attitude (i.e. getting people to think about why they do up their seatbelt, look in the mirror, signal in advance, etc.).
