Cool U-turn over 'Cornish pasty tax'

The government is to reverse its plan to impose VAT on Cornish pasties and reduce the proposed charges on static caravans, the BBC learns.

Limp wristed, short-sighted, incompetent, spineless, posh school idiots. None of them could fight their way out of a wet paper bag - especially if the bag shouted loud enough not to be split.

What a bunch of #@*&%@# we are being governed by

Whether you agree with the 'pasty tax' or not (and theres more than one side to the coin), the main point here is that the UK "government" have even less follow-through than the Greek one.

Oh. Wait. Greece can't even choose one -and they're STILL more decisive and committed than our lot!

They should all be committed - to the loony bin!!
I'm waiting for them to introduce air tax so they can tax the very air we breath. Wouldn't surprise me if they fined the heavy breathers, smokers for contaminating the air waves lol

I don't think they should have brought in either of the taxes in the first place, especially without considering the ramifications. Useless.
Then to back track on it - very poor. Very very poor......

Just think of all those shopkeepers situated next door to bakers who would have bought a microwave oven so that a customer could have come from the bakers to warm up their pasty (and hopefully spend some cash in their shop).

Why not? Why should one shop have VAT imposed on their hot foods and another not?

Is it true that Ginsters gave the the Conservative's a hefty donation recently?...

What's better? They don't u turn on a mistake and carry on regardless.. or they do u turn? Surely better they don't? People moan when they (generic they for politicians/government) do something they think is wrong and when they say "ok we're not going to do it", people moan because they made a u turn!

It shows they were ill thought out and just taxing things for the sake of it. They're milking the country for all it's got and still giving the EU millions. It's got to stop!!

They used to be indecisive but now they just ain't got a freakin clue

Maggie Thatcher had it right in her famous comments "U Turn if you want to - This Lady is not for turning!"

Shame this government doesn't have a clear vision and stick to it no matter what. Then we could all respect them a bit - maybe.

Ray you make a very good point. Making a u-turn is not really listening to the public and then changing your mind based upon reasoned argument, it is more about quickly changing an ill-devised policy that might lose votes. Clearly defined policies are a must accompanied with a belief that the policies are right and no other option is better.
