The banks are fighting tooth and nail to prevent consumers from reclaiming charges imposed on their overdraft account, so until that is resolved there is not a lot consumers or businesses can do. However, if you have been paying an insurance policy on your loan, known as a PPI (Payment Protection Insurance), you may have been mis-sold. Meaning, should you need to rely on it because you are no longer able to work, or are injured or self-employed(!) you will not be covered. You can start reclaiming now for payments made over the past 6 years.

The banks have behaved poorly for some years now, and they are going to take a kicking for a bit. It is how it is if you over charge on the one hand, and gamble recklessly with peoples money on the other.

Obviously, I hope the banks get straight as quickly as possible, but I also hope they return to a prudent take on the banking function. No sub prime. No 100% mortgages. And so on!

Then, I might be prepared to let them have my investment portfolio again.
