Default How Do You Keep Your Business Records?

As more and more online bookkeeping solutions appear, I was wondering how many people have started to use them and ditched the more traditional methods.

How do you keep your business records?

Nothing online, I have had a nasty experience with losing control of a website & e-mail addresses because the ISP went bust, & then not being able to access stuff of mine that Google had but refused me access to.

Badly?

I used to use an exercise book, but I've progressed to using a spreadsheet - not an excel one. This is just an electronic version of the exercise book.

For some businesses using computerised accounts is overkill. I tried Sage and Quickbooks, before realising that I only needed the simplest of records and bought the exercise book.

I have used Excel spreadsheets in the past and also used Sage based software. Have now converted to Kashflow which I fin easy to use and, as it is online, have no worries about losing data. Also, accountant can access all my info and keep me on the straight and narrow.

For clients, I use an Excel spreadsheet for his invoicing to his clients/locums but he also has a system of his own for all his other business payments/receipts and sends it all to his accountant.

Default The reason I asked...

Is because I am researching on-line options for a client and have been surprised by the number and variety of choices available.

Is there any chance the members who voted for online could let me know a bit more about their experiences, which ones they looked at before deciding, and most importantly, how they are getting along with it.

Whether we all like it or not, online systems are set to take over from traditional packages - if for no other reason than cost. There are lot's of other advantages as well, not least the ability to dump your data onto your hard-drive regularly in a form that can be uploaded easily into another system.

I still haven't found anything that comes close to my personal favourite, VT Transaction Plus online and VT have confirmed they have no plans to put the program online - shame
