Mobile Phone Recommendations
Hey folks,
I'm due an upgrade shortly and am stuck for what to get.
I currently have an MDA Vario II on T-Mobile, its a windows device so I can pick up my exchange email and run various windows apps.
Ideally, i'd like another Windows mobile device but that's not a requirement.
However, I do need large storage space ( currently 1gb), qwerty keyboard, exchange mail and a decent battery life.
Any suggestions?

Leave it a couple of months for HTC to release the Touch Pro / MDA Vario IV.
That is what I'll be trying to get come my next upgrade

Good thread as I'm in about the same spot. To date haven't been using my mobile for much other than a phone and camera, but am at the stage where I need to be able to access the web and email more and more.

I've researhed this a lot and my short list was:-
* Nokia e 71 (see my comments in a separte post)
* Blackberry Bold (am trying that on Thursday)
* The HTC Pro which is the grown up version of my current HTC phone (Vodafone v1415) I think these are excellent phones.
If you can wait the Sony Experian x1 looks fab but who knows how long before this is right and and they went to HTC to make it for them.
If you don't need a keyboard then there are a lot more inc the Samsung Omnia

HTC Touch Pro is great for the QWERTY keyboard.
HTC Touch Diamond has a touch screen choice of the normal 0-9 keypad or QWERTY keyboard. Additionally has a motion sensor, so can predict movements for the games included on the phone. Touch Diamond available on tarriffs as low as £30 per month 600 mins, unltd messages.

I use an iPhone 3G and its great. You can use exchange for your email, it has 16gb capacity and you can get loads of really useful apps for it.

I've got the HTC Touch Pro at the minute - love it as a phone, does just about everything I need....
However, the HTC Touch Pro 2 is just out (on Vodafone at least - which Orange would pull their fingers out!) and the speakerphone and tilt screen on it makes it look like it would the only phone I'd ever want!!!

I find the iPhone to be an amazing piece of kit. With regard to email on it, it does have native exchange connectivity as well as IMAP and POP3 access. All of which are compatible with exchange if you set it up correctly. At the end of the day, you can use any mail client with exchange if the exchange services have been configured. So my advice would be to try out each phone and see which one you get along with the best.
Regarding Blackberrys:
If you're buying a single unit, then you use the phone providers web interface to add accounts. They can access exchange through Outlook Web Access which actually isn't the ideal way to grab data, you're better off setting up IMAP on exchange and accessing your mail through that on your blackberry, it'll be faster on the blackberry and less traffic on your server.
If you're buying several handsets, then you'll want a blackberry enterprise server. They do a "lite" version which can run on the same server as your exchange server or for heavier users you'll install Blackberry Enterprise Server onto a new server.
Cheers,
Rich
