Default 2 year old MacBook Pro or brand new windows laptop

Hi all,

Been made redundant at work and have been offered to buy the MacBook Pro I have been using for the job.

It's a couple of years old and has been used heavily, 10 hours a day most days. Taken a few knocks but everything works. However it does get pretty warm which is my main worry about keeping it.

For the same money I could get a new Windows 7 laptop with a similar spec to the mac.

The MacBook Pro is 17", 2.8GHZ Dual core with 4GB Ram.

My personal stance is that I like the slickness of the Macs but I wouldn't pay their prices from new, so I guess my main question is around the longevity of the Macs ?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I'd go with a new laptop. At the least, it'll be guaranteed for a while.

I would also go for a new laptop, as I've known of a few occasions where a MacBooks battery would need replacing after a couple of years of heavy usage.

I would go with the new laptop as well. You would have some warranty.
