It really depends on your bank, bank manager and staff, and that can always change, so... there really are good and bad banks everywhere. UK, The States, New Zeland, Israel, India etc'.
Australian banks haven't yet cottoned on to the fact that it's my money! It's like the UK was 7 years ago before Tescos bullied them into not charging for ATM withdrawals. The problem is simply the lack of competition.
I never realised we had Tescos to thank for stopping ATM charges! Oh, and we must stop calling them 'ATMs'. We'll be flying the Stars and Stripes next!
How does overseas banking compare to that in the UK? Any horror stories? Any nice ones?
To some extent, it depends on your definitely of 'overseas'. Personally the idea of banking outside the country I'm (approximately) living in makes me very uneasy.
