What are people's opinions on this site? I've used it before and was very pleased and am looking to get a logo for my dev work site. I like that you can set your price and if you word your advert well normally get a good response and a variety of designs to chose from without breaking the bank.

I can't help but think I should be supporting a little UK business and asking them to do it, but then I think of the price factor.

What are people's thoughts? And recommendations for sensibly priced logo designers?

It depends on the definition of 'sensible'.

99designs and other sites like it are 'okay' however I would always prefer to go to a design agency where I can discuss ideas, concepts, etc. before finalising on a design specification.

99designs = I want blah
They reply with blah

A good design agency = I want blah.
They will reply = blah isn't actually what you want, x, y or even z will suit your brand and campaign strategy better. The reasons for this are 1, 2, 3...

99 Designs is the devil! lol - seriously, it is ripping the heart and soul out of a great industry of graphic designers and web designers. I don't think I have an expensive day rate, yet I cannot compete with the range of 15yr old bedroom photoshoppers with Paypal who don't pay their tax, the masses of companies from india and the 35yr old who still lives at home with mum and dad and doesn't pay bills...

Basically, if you want cheap, go to 99 designs... if you want quality, find a good local agency or freelancer.

That's a very good point though, here at I4 Visual we're highly customer orientated so, sites like 99designs.com aren't as much to our fancy.

I should point out that ssldonkey wasn't from a 99designer.

However I think it's unfair to tar everyone on that site with the same brush. I've seen amazing work on there and in contract some embarrassingly crap work on some "professional" designers sites.

Saying that I didn't use it in the end and wouldn't use it again now I have my "resident" designer!
