GIMP
Does anyone use GIMP?
I dabble with doing logos and web design (it's not my forte and I'm not that good) but I'm struggling to get to grips with using GIMP.
Are there any good, but easy to understand guides out there for simple folk like what I am?

Hi Adam,
I have used GIMP and it takes a while to get used too using. I didnt like it but its free.
I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 which is spot on for what I need. You can get it online for about Ł55.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0
Hi Adam,
It does indeed. You should be able to get a free demo download from the Adobe site.
I used to use Coral Paint shop pro but find Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 is so much better.

I love the idea of GIMP but couldn't quite get my head around it. Adobe is much easier to use.

Has anybody used Freehand 8 on a Mac? Have aquired (legit, un-opened and only Ł24) a copy from America and hope to use it for my daughter to use, how does it compare to illustrator? TBH its more of a case of being there, rather than needing it as such, but it will free up the pc at times to double up on different projects. I couldn't get on with GIMP, it just doesn't do it for me, so have Photoshop (theres a suprise...) instead. Scribus mind you, is pretty good, IMO.

I've used the GIMP, and I don't like it -- mostly because I never could get the hang of it.
I use Paint.net as a nice, lite free alternative.

Agree with adobe being awesome. I've got GIMP installed, mainly use it to resize the odd photo and add text on top. Bit tricky when trying to get the right layer to move.

I quite like PAINT.net. I find it easier to use than GIMP. I only do touching up with images though, like using the clone stamp.. that is as far as I go, so PAINT.net fits the bill for me

I tried GIMP, but having learnt photoshop first, I struggled to get to grips with it. Personally I use Illustrator for everything now (where possible) It's far more forgiving, and nothing is set in stone coz it's vector.

Never heard of GIMP but I use Adobe Photoshop Elements. Some good free tutorials on the net for it as well. I confess to not doing much with it but I use it for converting images to jpg etc and for resizing and did quite a good job of editing a stone column out of a photo of the inlaws the other year. It was behind their heads and looked silly.
I love it and am sure I am only tapping into a fraction of what it can do.

I do use GIMP, when I need to tweak an image - or just crop one. Mainly use it these days because I'm used to it, and I know where most things are (I'm not very good with graphics though, tend to get someone else to do it!).
