I'm sure most of you will have heard of micro-finance schemes, most notably the Grameen Bank, where poor people are given small loans to give them a start.
There's been talk that such a scheme might also be set up in Glasgow to assist the city's underprivileged. However, the current benefit laws are such that the scheme may never be able to come to fruition in Glasgow (or indeed anywhere in the UK).
