Making the most of the good Weather as a business
On day's like today I am reminded of how many businesses can use good weather to advantage.
My first paying Saturday job was at the local Petrol filling station / Second hand car dealers.
Between fuelling cars (this was unusual as a petrol station in the 1980's, but the tips where good), on a day like today I had to put the price up of the cars on the forecourt by £100 first thing.
Why ?
People are happy spending more money when they are happy !
This either meant that they paid more - or that the guy selling the cars could give an additional £100 discount without even thinking about it - so both the customer and the seller where happy.
So the weather does make a difference in my view - what ever line of business you are in.
But as I posted this on a Sunday - get outside and make the most of it - you know you deserve it !

We find when it's glorious hot weather our traffic takes a massive dive, maybe half of the normal rate. Bring on the winter LOL!

I agree :)
If I am standing around giving out leaflets on a bright sunny Sunday people are much more receptive to taking them. Guess that's what I will be doing this weekend! lol

If you can take your product outside somehow its a great way to get opinions as well giving out leaflets etc.
I was going to say plan ahead and check the weather but it's always wrong!

I used to work in the pub trade and it was massively noticeable the affect of good weather- high volume of customers, generally having a couple of drinks, little food, compared to rain- lower volume of customers, increased food orders, higher per head drinks spend.
Equally I think in your "traditional" office based industries I find people to be a bit less receptive when it is hot/ sunny- thinking of the 5pm barbie and beer perhaps?

The weather was definately helping the river cruises on the Thames today - I treated myself to a rover ticket and drifted between Westminster and Greenwich working on my laptop and catching the odd ray when I occasionally(!) looked up from the screen!

The weather works wonders for us www.amazingdays-scotland.com as many of our packages are outdoors on speedboats, rage buggies or seaplanes- although almost all of our events are just as much fun (if not more) even when it rains : )

I love working outside in the sunshine but my laptop screen isn't great in the sunlight so I have to half sit in the shade to be able to see.

Hi Kim,
slight tangent but get yourself a privacy screen cover (Targus do some good ones)- helps stop sun glare so means you can top up your tan and still see your screen
