Cool Manufacturers 'need more support'

UK manufacturers want the government to offer more support rather than "empty rhetoric", a new survey by business advisers BDO says.

What do you think? Is UK manufacturing already dead in the water, regardless of any notional support?

I think all business sectors can be helped. For example

Reduce Employer NI payments, perhaps zero rate them for younger workers. A
similar approach could be adopted by industry sector and/or by geography.

Targetted approaches can boost youth employment (much needed) and help business segments.

Another approach could be to use some of the QE for strategic investment, projects that drive the economy in the longer term.

There are many ways to help businesses and those looking for work. Clearly there is a balance to be considered but I feel the economic climate requires bold government action.

I guess at this time there are two types of business owners. Those that have cut back to the bone, reduced all possible costs and hope to survive. The other type is always seeking resources to grow their business, reduce costs, and create opportunities.

Evaluation of a company, and it's outlook to the future, would be the choice for any investment.

I think what Drachsi said is appropriate for any business really not just manufacturing.

The recession is affecting all industries, some in a good way, but many bad.

Everyone knows the best way to try and beat a recession is market your way out!
