Smile Quick Question for the board!

Hi everyone!
Sorry I've been so quiet of late, I've been upto my eyeballs in writing website copy for various places, and let me tell you, the things I know about pulp bedpans and steel ingot melting would win me first prize in any pub quiz!
Anyway, my Manager Daniel has set me a challenge: He wants me to change the description of his homepage as it shows on Google underneath the website title. We've 130 characters to play with and he wants it to stand out from the rest, as opposed to being written to incorproate the right keywords and search terms.

When I ran a Google search for 'Graphic Designers Bolton' and looked at our competition, it was all very boring and written for a computer, not for a person to read. For example 'Bolton Based Graphic designer provides logos and corporate rebranding'.

My question is, as an internet user, would you click on something that was written with a human being in mind, instead of a search engine? If the description underneath the page title read something like 'Hello! Is it me you're looking for?' (Obviously, it wouldn't be that- I'm not working on a Lionel Richtea fan site! ) ???

Any answers on postcards would be greatly appreciated, as I just want to know what your impressions would be of a website that did this kind of thing- would you think them unprofessional, or would the friendly, informal tone make you click on them????

I'd like the friendly informal tone.. assuming of course that gets/keeps you in the search engines!

that's just the problem, like AdamW said, we'd all click on the links that were human orientated, it's just getting the link up there in the search results.

I click on the link that clearly has the info I want. So if I've searched for 'graphic designer bolton' and the title and description contain those words, then I'd click.

That's why having your phrase repeated in your title and ad is good for Adwords too.
