Default Improving Product Pages - Brother Printers

I'm trying to improve our new site Brother Printers, specifically I want to improve the look of the product pages which are currently in a fairly standard format at the moment.

Using the following page as an example can anyone make any suggestions as to how to improve it?

Brother MFC-9440CN

Does it need more text? Less text? More pictures (what of)? Different formatting/layout? Is there anything you as a customer would want to know but can't find on the page? Anything that is putting you off?

I particularly want to improve this page as I have a ton of MFC-9440's I want to shift before the free 3yr warranty offer finishes at the end of this month, so what else can I do to jazz it up on the page and make the offer irrisistable?

Thanks.

Hi,

"This printer is in short supply elsewhere, but we still have plenty in stock for imediate dispatch." spell immediate

the * next to the consumables makes it look like they might have been partly used because the only *is for the A-grade products where you mention partly used. I would assume this would only apply to the 'in the box' contents and not to a new cartridge etc. that you would add to a purchase. The Free Delivery is a big deal for something this size, you should include it in the text as well as in a picture.

These are the main things that stick out for me...

No dimensions shown - the picture gives no clues as to how large or small this is and that's important to me and...

I would need to know more about the network side other than "network ready". If this means plug a network cable in and that's it - say so. If it means it can be networked but needs something else such as a seperate print server, additional software etc. My experience of "network ready" printers is very varied - some are a dream to set up and some are complete pains - which category does this fall into?

Also, you mention pc free copies - but does it also do pc free faxes - or does the fax need a pc with a modem?

When it scans, does it save the image as .tiff, .pdf, .jpg etc? You don't say. If it is varied, say so, if not, say so.

I ask this mainly 'cos I'm actually interested in buying one if it isn't too big

oooooh, didn't spot that one. I'll remove those as they shouldn't be there any more anyway.

ok, it's now been updated with your suggestions and the info requested. I think I need to shift the layout around a bit though, the current layout just isn't working... But keep the suggestions coming - especially the "if I was buying one I'd want to know...." comments, and layout suggestions.

One more point. Why do you allow the links to the product reviews go off your site. It is a sure way to lose a customer as buying links appear as I go through the reviews and your site quickly becomes a distant memory.

Is there a way around this to have the reviews directly on your own site but with a credit to ZDNet etc.?

I think there is a problem with reproducing their review without permission (and getting permission would be too much of a pain, and they probably wouldn't give it anyway)... I did ask on a forum about a year ago about how much of a review you could reproduce (I though there was a certain % that was ok) but ther responses were basically just not to do it.

But obviously it would be preferable not to have offsite links. Although I think it's ok in this case - I bought up all the remaining stock and all the main suppliers are out of stock. So it's not like customers can go anywhere else for this model...

I think the first thing I would change is that I would have a brief overview of the product first. Then move onto the more detailed description, which could maybe be pruned a bit. This way someone will be able to quickly identify if this is the printer they need or not. Also given the knock-down price you are offering this at, I'd display that prominentley too.

I didn't click on the links before but you should make them open in a new browser window so that you don't let the people lose your site. code e.g.
