Default website review please

Hi all, i have recently updated my website (all done by my own fair hand)

i have tried to make the site look cleaner and navigation simpler, have i acheived this?

also, the site does fairly well for us but i'am sure it could do better - any advice on this - not too technical please

also does the site feel proffesional or home made - would you use my services if you landed on my site?

the website by the way is www.zodiacsecurity.co.uk

Hi Zodiac!

Here's a few pointers for you, as with many sites built this way it's a good starting point but there are quite a few things that need to be addressed.

1. Navigation
The main menu is seperated by your corporate branding, I don't quite understand the purpose of this as people expect there to be only one menu! I completely missed the bottom one as I thought I'd already seen it. Would suggest you move your branding above/below the menu so people can see all your links in one place.

2. Font
The homepage has non-underlined links (Services menu) and underlined headings (latest videos and pictures) and text.

This is slightly confusing as the links look like non-links and the non-links look like links!

3. Homepage Picture
Might just be me but that wall doesn't look real! It looks like you've taken a picture of an alarm and photoshopped it onto a wall. (Sorry if I'm wrong on that)

4. Coding
The website doesn't validate to the standards set by W3, this basically means that the disabled might have problems viewing the website and it can also have a negative impact on SEO as search engines find it harder to understand your content.

Looks like its been constructed using some sort of site builder which often don't produce the best website code.

5. Content/SEO
It would be good to see your main keywords in headings in your main content. So 'Burglar Alarms Yeovil' for example.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need any more advice.

Cheers,
Matt.
