I'm not convinced by franchises in general, based on my own experience and extensive knowledge as a second-generation driving instructor. My father ran his own independant driving school for over 32 years and I have been doing the same for the last 10 years.
I'm chairman of my local area driving instructors association so I know a lot of instructors and I can see why people are attracted to franchises such as RED, BSM, SUREPASS and others, but in practice, it is the independants that make the most money.
Major brand franchises such as McDonalds are one thing, but I believe it's better to be non-franchised. When trade is quiet due to the weather, season or simply the general economic climate, the independant doesn't have to keep paying a franchise fee. But that's just my opinion.

I think it depends on the franchise, I know lots of people who invested there money in various franchise, some successful some not, but I can tell you that of the ones who didn't succeed with the franchise model, they all went Independant and made more money, also my brother I law now owns 3 McDonald's, so it really depends on the franchise, and the area I which it is in,
