Did you know that if you fill in your profile, people can more easily find you here? Even non-members!

• Click the

button above.

• Type 'designer' into the Occupation field and then click 'search now'.

An instant list of designers!

Looking for someone in London?

• Type 'london' into the 'Location' field and then click 'search now'.

An instant list of Londoners!

Looking for a designer in London?

• Add to both fields and then click 'search now'.

Easy!

All fields on the search form are optional. Most fields will accept a partial input (for example, you could enter Jo into the 'User Name' field in order to find users called John, Joe, Joseph and Jolene).

Edit and update your profile info NOW to maximise your chances of being found!

Optional Fields: Home Page, Real Name, Occupation, Position in Organisation, Location, Business Address,
Business Telephone Number, Twitter ID, Biography, Interests, Platform, Operating System, Browser, Telecomms Device.

Please be aware that as a benefit to our regularly contributing members, we proactively delete the Profile Information (web links, contact details etc) of those who join then rarely or never contribute. This reduces link spamming and increases the chances of active members being found in searches. Profile info deletions will not of course apply to Full Members.

Please also note that members do not show up in the Members List (or show up in searches) until they have ten posts.

Today I searched for 'SEO' in 'occupation' and I only found one result!

You guys should know better! Get those profiles filled in!

Im going to shoot myself (temporarily) in the foot here!

Wouldnt it be advantageous to the paid members to appear at the top of those listings when searched for? as currently for SEO there is a 0 poster at the top of the list, doesnt look good on the forum - and its a additional USP for the forum

Thanks for the suggestion. As you've probably guessed, it runs alphabetically but I'll look into that. Shouldn't be a monumental tweak.

either a tweak in the admin of the site or a tweak to the SQL

Fixed!

Full Members now show first by default in Member Search results.

For interest, it was a tweak in one of the PHP files.

I thought it would be, last time i did it on a phpBB it was a tweak of the database query (SQL) to add an order by clause

May not be workable within the forum software but you could list them via amount of posts or the amount of times someone has been thanked? I guess in an ideal world it would rank in this order:

1. member
2. amount of posts
3. thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. We could, but priority is given to Full Members. Once you've completed a member search though, you can choose to sort by fields.
