Thanks Mark. Is it only the signature that registers with google to boost your web-site or is there something else I can add into the posts?

A 'wide' question!

Forums (the original social media) are really about networking with your peers; interaction, giving advice, seeking help, brand building. More here. That's how you'll benefit mid-long term.

Sig links are all well and good but, as per the topic of this thread, if you never post no one know about you (or see those links).

There's a boat-load of info about how to make the most of UKBL here.

Hi Mark,

If I want to push my web-site higher on the search engine what can I do? Does having a signature with my posts help each time I post or is this signature just for people who look at the post? I own a driving school and I am on page 2 on a lot of my local searches or on the bottom of page 1. How can I push on to get a little closer to the top? I also post on some local forums and I'm wondering the same thing. Is this going to help my page ranking or has it no effect on my web-site ranking. I'm not really sure what's helping? I have marketing companies calling me every week offering to get my web-site to the top of google listings but they are very expensive and I've been warned that it won't last unless I keep paying top dollar.
Any advise on these dilemmas is very welcome. Thanks

You'd be better off asking an SEO expert about the technicalities (mathematics) of signature links but the search engines will pick them up. This site has a fairly decent page rank which will add some weight to your link (I believe that's how it works) but not a great deal.

The principle advantages of networking on a forum though are listed and discussed here: Why posting on UK Business Labs makes good business sense

I'll copy your post there in a moment.
