If Facebook does decline, then it is logical that it will be replaced by something else. I can't see anything really competing with it at the moment. Who knows possibly Google+ in a year or two.

I think Facebook is here to stay, although it needs something new to uplift its popularity. I often find myself signing in and scrolling for a few pages and soon thinking 'this is boring, nothing interesting here' before signing out again. Although...maybe this says more about me & my friends than it does Facebook :P

I think you're right there - I find facebook incredibly dull now. It's also - as I keep saying - too complex. Way too many whizz-bangs and gadgets which a great many networks fall foul of.

I've also pretty much stopped accepting random friend requests; people whom I know nothing about. I don't give a monkeys how many 'friends in common' we apparently have... who are you?!!!

Must do a purge some day...

Like anything Facebook will evolve to suit the needs of it's customers or, eventually, it will be replaced with something more straight-forward (thinking Twitter and Google+ at this point).

I agree with Mark that it is looking a bit tired - it doesn't actually matter how many bells and whistles they add to it. For me (and a lot of other users I expect) it's all about usability - with all these add-ons I think Facebook is drowning itself.

It makes me think of a certain Mozilla product (FF) that is doing something quite similar. Personally I like Chrome since it's less cluttered and faster... it's growing in market-share as a result and I think the same thing will happen with Facebook eventually. However, I suspect Mark Zuckerberg is probably too clever to let that happen? Then again, just because you're clever doesn't mean you have common sense!
