Default Spamming" on Facebook?

Hi guys,
I am trying to promote my band and to gain more fans.
I thought to send emails on Facebook to fans of similar band and ask them to like my page.
I know Facebook will mark me as a spammer this is why i wanted to open "fake" accounts.
You know if Facebook trace also the IP or only the account? (so I'll be able to open couple of accounts).

Thanks.

p.s
I am nor really a spammer it's for a good cause

Welcome along. I don't think promoting a band can really be excused as a 'good cause' at least I don't think facebook will see it that way. Why not do it through twitter?

Hi,
i need to get to new target audience,
so the only option is through facebook (finding similar bands and there fan base).
The only question is if facebook check the ip (so i can't use multiple users)?

There are ways of achieving what you want, but the way you are going about it isn't one of them. A way of guaranteeing that I will never do business with you is to spam me. Even better - FB will track your IP & ban you and your band forever, so I hope that you have a fall back occupation.

Hi Gemmatore,

Welcome to the forums,
I am a fan of a few bands on Facebook and they all have created a group page or business page and send out updates rather than e-mails to the people that are fans of the their band.
They also have applications on their page so you can hear some of their demo's so you can decide if its your type of sound and then become their fan.
One of the biggest turn off's in Facebook, business and anything online is getting spammed by people, you can never really tell their motives and it gives a really bad 1st impression.
I think you would find your tactics would generate very few new fans and you'd be better off using your time networking and getting your Facebook page looking and sounding amazing, so that when you get some new visits they'll be more likely to become fans.
Also try and get some decent content other than speaking about the band all the time, things like quizzes, reviews, information. This will generate interest and help introduce your band to new fans.
I haven't seen your page, so please only take this as general advise!
Think about how you re-act to spam e-mail you receive?!? Most of it is blocked or deleted right, then most of the e-mail you send will meet the same fate!
Put your energy to better use and become your fans source of knowledge, you'll find it will be better for you and your band in the long run.
Good Luck

You want to open up fake accounts on Twitter and spam people, but you're not really a spammer?

I think he wants to spam people on Facebook because that's where bands hang out, it was Emma who suggested that Twitter was more appropriate for spamming people. In fact I personally always block & report spammers on twitter , and they seem to disappear a day later so I'm not sure Emma is right that Twitter is the place to spam.

I always thought Myspace was the musicians social network anyway.

Rather than create fake accounts in Facebook, join the groups where other band members hang out, invite them to be your friend and then, you can ask them to become your fan. There really is nothing wrong with asking people to like your fan page on Facebook hence the reason Facebook have a link that says "suggest to friends." There is also a service where you can buy like 100 fans for $10.00. Have never used it before, don't know whether Facebook accepts it, but I read a string on Facebook today where a lady was offering to buy fans! People reported her to Facebook and they did nothing! She was very open with it too. I would personally suggest that you "don't try this one at home." :-)

I personally think Facebook is a fantastic place to promote your band since business owners have no problem pushing their business on there. You have to do it in a way that people don't feel pitched though. Try to get creative and add some videos of your band, some 60 second audio clips of your songs and update your fans as you're on the road.

All the best.

I actually meant twitter might be a better place to get the message out; not spam!

Spamming is a bad idea, and never really rewards, you'll alienate your potential fans and damage your brand.

I think a far better way would be to post youtube videos as replies to other related music to build some interest.
