So toe curlingly embarrassing that one loses the will to even pass a comment, but I have as I feel there should be a Sally Bercow thread.

Hi Everyone,

We need a website building for our new company and we need it pretty quickly. The maximum budget for this web build is £600 including VAT. I would need to see examples of work done in the past as it's obviously important to get this spot on.

After reading the brief below, if anyone is interested in this job, please e-mail me chris@energysavingled.com

Thanks

1) This is an information website only. No payments. We have all the content pretty much ready to go. We know what colours the site should be in, have a logo etc etc

2) We want to use this template for the website - WordPress › Responsive « Free WordPress Themes

3) We are a technology company and the website needs to portray this

4)Need to be able to add, delete and edit Product Categories and Products ourselves very easily

5) Want our Contact e-mail + phone number in the top right hand corner at all times.

6) We need an 'About Us' and 'Contact Us' on Homepage

7) We would like 3 large rotating images on home page. Where it says 'Hello World and the Image of Phone Desktop, Tablet'

8) We have 6 Products and 3 Product Categories That need to be accessed directly from the homepage.

9) Each Product Page will have 3-4 images, a downloadable Data Sheet and some text. Example is this - Genie Security Solutions | EV5131 : Video Decoder

10) In the 'product categories' we have a total of 9 products to go into these 3 categories.

So the next "Major" release of Penguin update has hit the selves and already upsetting the masses through out yesterday afternoon.

How have you feared this time around ? Apparently affecting 2.3% of English Queries you can safely say this is going to be a messy one for alot of people.

Some sites which have been affected in the bigger shifters include : porn sites, game sites and big brands like Dish.com, the Salvation Army, CheapOair and Educational Testing Service.

Quote:

There are eight porn sites on the list of 25, and four game-related sites. Of those game sites, three are listed in the top 10. (You have to merge the porn sites listed at the bottom with the sites above them to get the actual order of impact.)

There are also several well-known brands, like Dish.com, the Salvation Army, ETS, and CheapOair. REEDS jewelers has been around since 1946 and has stores in 18 states. DailyDot.com, also on the list, is a respected online news site.

The column on the far right shows how much “SEO Visibility” each website has lost — at least for the keywords that SearchMetrics tracks. This doesn’t necessarily mean that these websites are all seeing dramatic traffic losses, because they might still have high visibility for keywords that aren’t being tracked. That said, in the couple years that we’ve been reporting on the Penguin and Panda updates, lists from SearchMetrics and a couple other SEO software companies have generally been considered mostly accurate.

I fear that Google are yet again going to put small businesses again in to a spin, tragic considering Google based its growth on ethical means of allowing the small guy creep through, since then it seems they've become more and more commercialised and the big boys are coming through yet again.
It matters that they were fueled by some ridiculous religious fervour for which someone else is responsible. They are however responsible for their actions.
Can you imagine the outcry if the roles were reversed and it had been white Christians killing a black Muslim?

HI

My site has been up nearly a year but traffic is still far too low. It was designed by a company for me and ive already got them to change it one as it wasnt user friendly enough. Hosted in UK it would seem that bounce rate from home page high. I thought i might change the five manufacturer tabs to product types ie pencil cases etc instead of Tyrrell Katz but i cannot afford big redesign, this one cost me loads and no sales means no money.

So any hints or tips which might help reduce bounce on front page or others if you have thoughts most welcome. I am still trying to get it up the rankings but whatever i do little helps.

Thanks

... a massive thank you to this forum and the admins for, well, existing! Reading through this forum over the past week and getting involved in a few conversations has helped my business immeasurable amounts.

Based on old posts on this forum I went out and found a business mentor who I spent three hours with last night and came away from the meeting buzzing with ideas. He loved my bran and how I've based things properly from my research, and I wouldn't have had that feeling if I hadn't have come here to this forum! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to shamelessly plug the guy's coaching / mentoring service, but if anyone asks I'm happy to give it to them.

Similarly, the feedback I've got from my questionnaire has mainly been people on this forum and it's helped me re-think a little area of my business plan. Now, instead of a 10-12 day delivery as standard, I'll now be doing 6 days with an option to make it 4 and it has only added a £2/3 to the prices, again, something the research has shown me people are willing to do.

I can't say thank you enough to the admins and the members on here!!! :D
