Default eBay - Pure Greed

eBay has changed its final value fees. It is supposed to be making its fees simpler, and abolishing listing fees.

Previously, if you sold an item for say £200, you'd pay a final value fee of £11.55, based on 8.75% of 29.99 and 5.25% of the rest.

Now, however, you pay 10% of the final value, which means you have to pay them £20; an increase of 73%.

And all this is before Paypal fees:

ebay fees are a rip off anyway!

Incidentally i posted a load of car spares at the weekend i no longer need - and was suprised about the lack of listing fees, As a low volume seller, i dont mind the 10% rule - makes it easier for me to work out what Ive earned is!

Not only that they also get 3.4% on the Paypal transaction as well. I always guess at estimate 15% fees for when I sell stuff on eBay now. My local paper has a free ads section up to £100 - works really well and save on the fees. I hate lining eBays pockets!

Thumbs down

I sell middle-highend furniture for an old client through ebay using store inventory, is this just for private sales? or does it include shops?

It is extortionate, not to mention paypals cut on top too.

I find ebay really expensive, so much so it was far cheaper for me to set up my own website. I went live with my website in february and I'm so glad I did, this month alone has paid for the domain name and years hosting
I also try other craft places like MISI to sell my items - their fees are very reasonable
