Also requested invite. This will, hopefully, be Square for the UK (unless they bring out a chip device!)

Would be better if I could get verified - apparently my information doesn't match (not sure what they are checking to). I have to check spelling and try again. Will try with personal and see if that works!

It doesn't yet take VISA which is a bit of a limitation at the moment. As a personal user, you need to have a Facebook account and, I believe, have a telephone number and address displayed... Yeah, that's going to work...
My initial questions are:
- Does it take debit cards?
- Can I use it for personal and business?
- Where does the money go? I'm assuming I link it to a bank account? If so, my personal one or my business one? Can I change that at will because taking personal and business payments would be great.
Just about to download the app and order the reader.

I'm assuming yes to debit (i.e. Visa debit) that work on the Visa and MC networks (when Visa is onboard).
You can use for business - I signed up for a personal and business account (my problems are with a business account for which you don't need Facebook)
You have to submit your bank details.

Just downloaded the app and signed in - seems smooth enough. Can't see where I add my bank account details though.
[edit] Oh yes... on the iZettle website.
I'm debating whether to sign up for a personal account as well so I can separate payments. I'm likely to take more more personal ones than business but the Facebook thing troubles me...

On the personal sign up page they ask for them at the bottom.

Hi everyone!
My name is Magdalena and I work at iZettle.
First of all, we think it is great that you are interested in iZettle!
It seems that you have received answers to most of your questions by your fellow members (thanks!), but I just wanted to fill you in on the Facebook issue.
The reason why we ask for your Facebook account is that getting to know our customers is key in keeping the service safe and secure. A Facebook account with a number of friends, in addition to a home address and a phone number, gives a good indication that a person really is who he or she claims to be.
If you have more questions, feel free to look through our FAQ section at: https://www.izettle.com/GB/help?ifra...ortal/articles.
You are also more than welcome to contact iZettle support at: help.uk@izettle.com
Cheers!

Welcome, Magdalena.
I think it's going to be a massive issue for iZettle; the Facebook thing. Very few people will want to publicly display their phone number, let alone their address. Is there an alternative means of verification for personal accounts?

Hi Mark,
This information is not publicly displayed. Due to security reasons, however, the adress of the seller must be shown on the receipt that is sent to its customers.
Just like with the overall iZettle service, we are continuously developing our sign-up processes and are looking at other options than Facebook for personal identification.

Ahh... so you're simply asking for a home address and phone number separately (i.e. not requiring it on the Facebook account)? That explains it. I've either misread the wording or you might need to change it slightly.
I'd also like a personal account - do I just apply for another invite?

Yes, this information is for our registration- not Facebook. Sorry if it was unclear!
If you would like a personal account as well, simply apply for another invite.
Adam - Please send an email to our support (help.uk@izettle.com) and they will be able to take a look at your registration and help you get set up!

I now have a business and personal account set up. It appears that Facebook login is only required to verify then you can change your registered email address. profile pic etc.
If you have a business account you have to make a refundable deposit of Ł1 to iZettle.
If you have a personal account you await a deposit in your bank from iZettle.
Bit odd, that, but there you go...
The site seems all rather basic and sparse but perhaps that bodes well. Just awating the reader now so I can satiate the tens of thousands of people foaming at the mouth to give me moneez.
I'm now going to look into the possibilities of using the app and reader to pay for goods/services - how handy would that be! It must be possible.

The support team is on duty weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm, and they always try to get back to you ASAP. On Mondays mornings they usually have quite a few emails to attend to that have piled up over the weekend They're working on your case right now, though.

So my application was denied - if you get the "you might have entered something incorrectly message" it probably won't mean that. I don't know why, and they won't tell me (clearly my credit rating isn't good enough for the Swiss) but what was explained to me, which is something I really should have checked but don't feel is made glaringly clear, is that they aren't registered in UK with the FSA, only with the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.
