Default advice needed for a new website

i have a domain name i bought a while ago and am thinking of doing something with it.

it will sell a certain brand of music but if i wanted to sell just the individual tracks how would i create this on the site for people to download?

is there a template i can buy and adjust and what type of programming software will i need for the site?

thank you in advance

Default music cart solutions

I'm not sure of your tech savvy level but you might find zencart a help, it comes with 'extras' built around a music download site. It can be installed and run on php/mysql hosting packages.

more info: Zen Cart(tm) Tutorials and FAQs - What are Zen Cart's features?

hope that helps

Have you looked at whether there's an affiliate scheme for selling the products. Could save you a lot of hassle with having to handle transactions.

Sorry I wasn't very clear: Zencart is a ready built ecommerce system and a lot of hosts provide it via fantastico; this does easy installation and sorts out all the mysql for you. All you would need to do is learn how to use the admin panel and zencart tutorials are excellent help with that. There's even a manual and a how-to book you can buy from the zencart site.

Good luck with the project, and if you need more help, give me a shout.

Hi there,

With Zen cart it is all done through attributes which once set up is real easy to implement to your products. Then when your customers purchase the product they can download it right away.

Zen cart is not too technical, depending on what you want to do, neither should hiring someone to help you out with other things like design and support.

If you take a look around there are a few cheap but very good Zen cart people out there willing in most cases to help teach you.

Rob

Default Joomla

You might want to try Joomla. It has a million extensions but i'm not quite sure if it has one for what you want. A quick bit of research will let you know.

joomla.org/extensions

A quicker and probably easier method will be (as mentioned above) Zencart.

If you are still in the market for a shopping cart, I have a code that will do what you are after, have a look at a site called heydj . com . could develop a similar for you.

as has been said for you now many times before, zen cart is very easy to use and is probably your best option!

It is already configured to be able to handle download sales as well as music!

This combined could make it the perfect vehicle for your venture

Any advice you may need just get in touch

You can also try Shopify along with Fetch to sell digital products. You can sign up for free trial accounts and no technical knowledge is needed.

If you are technically sound, you can try Joomla, wordpress or Drupal

Default How about iTunes?

Hi - just a suggestion - how about selling your music through iTunes (or eMusic or a.n.other) - it strikes me that you'd remove the technical headache of running a site and reach a far, far larger audience that starting a new site...
