Default Rent a domain

Does anybody rent any of their domains they own to businesses or clients? I have been thinking of buying a couple of domains purely with the idea of renting them to local business.

Does anybody here rent a domain or rent any out?

Nope and gotta say don't think I would rent one... if the domain isn't available find another... unless you've got some amazing domains you are going to rent for about Ł7 a year?

Yes I do currently rent domains, the current rate on some of my premium domains is from Ł30 a month to Ł2000 a month depending on the name. make sure you let them have a buyout option too though (at a premium ofcourse).

but when you buy them domain name make sure it is the best available

usually, business rent a domain to drive more traffic to their own site. so, it still have market for this. however, it means the domain you own should be an established site with decent traffic.

Hmm, I really don't like the whole rent-a-domain thing anyway, but the whole point of it is that the domain is established and has traffic - buying a new one defeats the object doesn't it?

Of course I suppose you could rent 'easy' domains for use on advertising etc, but if I were a company needing a domain I'd probably just buy a different one for a tenner if it didn't have the traffic attached.

I would be surprised if there is much money in renting domains unless it was hugely valuable. Secondly, if I was renting I would be worried that I would build up a business then that domain could be taken away from me.

As a business owner/operator, I would never rent one - it's too integral a part of your branding and image these days??

Default Domain Name Rental Agreement

Hi, you might want to have a Domain Name Rental Agreement in place. This document can be used in situations where the owner of a domain name wishes to lease that domain name to another business or individual.

We hope this helps.
