I own quite a few domains, which i have bought over the last year or so. I actually find it quite addictive looking for a top domains either on SEDO or over on Acorn domains. Some of the domains i have bought can be found here Juggle domains | domain names | domains for sale | Get in touch feel free to take a look.
I don't really catch them or buy them as a main-stream line, but I do own a few which I bought for various projects which have never happened (or because I chanced to see a really cool name available).
I am a serial buyer, I liken domains to tattoos, once you had one, the rest just keep coming! One piece of advice for people who do keep buying them, put something relevant on them from the get go, even if you leave it as a pet project, it will help your listings when you finally take it at full pelt.
Yeah, I buy domains all the time. They're Internet real estate. Sometimes you do something with them. Sometimes you don't get around to it. Sometimes someone will appear out of the blue and want one.
I only buy stuff I like, though. I don't buy domains because they're four letter or for some other "marketing" reason. Mostly I only buy .coms and co.uks - I'm not interested in the others.
I agree with Chris. Don't park them if you can possibly avoid it. Even get a simple page up.

I agree with not parking it, it takes about 15 mins to setup a wp blog with some content and then you can use it for links to your larger sites. Also it stands a higher chance of being indexed by google, yahoo and bing.
well i'm a happy bunny... I just registered Army Hats and airsoft goggles.
They have high search volumes and I think I will put some content rich blogs on them

So do u just wait for someone who wants to buy the domain and price it on the PR and domain age or are you making some money through traffic/adsense etc?

Also people take into consideration the amount of Exact Local or Exact Global Monthly Search's for the keywords within the domain. For Example Mobilephones.co.uk is up for auction over at Sedo and has a Exact monthly search volume of over 4 million! Some people expect the aution to run into the £xxx, xxx mark! Check it out Auction Detail-Sedo.com

I fully agree with what you are saying. What's the cheapest way of doing this if you, say, have bought 5, 10 or 15 or so domain names?
The domain names are fairly cheap, but if you then need to spend about £15/£20 per name just to host the one page site (to let it age whilst you decide what to do with it) the cost can begin to mount up.
looking at auto content plugins for wordpress such as wp robot, and auto publishing to twitter. from what ive read these work wonders, anyone have any experience of using them?
