Do you bother with the funny extensions?
So most people these days will register the .co.uk, .com and .net if they are all available. Does anyone bother with the other extensions? I can't remember the last time I visited a .biz or a .eu site.
Do you think it's worth having the full bag or are you content with the main ones?

My main site is .biz
I also have .net, .info, .com, .co.uk, .tv and most recently .fr
My .biz site performs just fine in google and on links on sites like this here. My .co.uk version of the name just doesn't feature anywhere that I can see - unlike the .biz one.
I chose .biz when they came out as they more reflected the commercial nature of my site. Now, as few people use the .biz - I just enjoy being different

Funny, as soon as I read your post Adam, I thought of Rays as I think it may be the only .biz I have visited (or consciously looked at the .biz extension) I have a few .infos that work well, other than that I am quite boring really, have toyed with others a few times, just never got around to it, but I do like the idea of them.

Well that's it you could go on and on and on. If I were to do business in another country that had a country tld then I'd get that too.

Out of curiosity I looked into domain prices in India while we were living there a few years back - they were pretty shocking compared to UK, US and generic TLDs, and the hoops you had to jump through were numerous. You certainly wouldn't want to buy them speculatively unless you were very sure of what you were doing!

Basically the same as my reason! One exception would be clients based in the Channel Islands, where if appropriate I do encourage them to obtain .gg/.je domains, as this can help to reinforce to their customer base that they are a local business.
That said, the Guernsey/Jersey domains are hideously expensive compared to .com/co.uk!

I just buy co.uk and .com. I don't usually even bother with .net.

Why would a non-IT company bother with .net ? It is the TLD for ISPs and other domains assosciated with the running of the network.

It really isn't any more. It's consider the number 2 TLD after .com. There are no restrictions to having a .net domain.

I know a lot of people who'll buy the .net if their preferred .com isn't available. Not me, I'd come up with another name.
These days I don't think that .net means IT any more than .com means company or commercial.
