Hello. What's an easy to run business on the internet? I've recently been laid off work (site labourer) but I don't want to back to slaving away for poor pay! Hope people can help me. Web deisgn maybe?
Apart from labouring, have you any other skills?
Perhaps open an informational website relating to your skills, advice for others etc..
It could be set up easily enough using a CMS.
Aside from that, have you any funds? maybe look in to a franchise?

If you're learning web design from scratch, it's going to take a long time. Your best bet is probably a college course of some sort.
If you're looking for something you can set up from home without spending a great deal, it's worth looking at becoming an eBay trader. You can buy a bulk lot and make a reasonable profit reselling. Research your market, research eBay, and you can do very well.
It's certainly not easy, but well worth looking into.
As Mat suggested, becoming an Ebay Trader is a good way of starting off. If you don't have room to store all your stock, you could look in to dropshipping too.

I thought labourers get paid quite a good wage, many of my friends do labouring, ground work and scaffolding and all have more money than me
Obviously you are fit and must enjoy outdoor work (which I miss nowadays being stuck in an office 24/7), how about gardening/landscaping?
You must know how to dig foundations, can you lay patio slabs/decking? Cut hedges, mow lawns etc. Buy a decent van, whacker plate, lawnmower and tools, price yourself cheap to start off and to get a customer base.

The market is absolutely saturated with website designers, it's not impossible but will be an up hill battle which will involve lots of training if you have no experience.

Skilled labour can pay very well. Unskilled labour is generally minimum wage, or not much more.
Contrary to popular opinion, the web design industry is not as saturated as you might think. However, to make a living from it, you need to be skilled and have very good people skills.
It isn't an Internet job, but GDF's gardening/landscaping idea is an interesting one. Think 'outside the box' with your marketing, and the opportunity to do well for yourself is there.

...and worth seriously considering, if your used to an outdoor environment with fresh air and lots of face to face with customers and other people then Website Designer probably isn't for you as alot of it will be stuck behind a computer!
