Besides, if you're getting the wrong auto-corrected values, its probably because.. "You're typing it wrong" - or some such gem!

It learns pretty quick, make sure you use the X button to teach it how you type so that in future it gives you the correct options.

You can't turn it off because it's pretty essential. Otherwyise people will end up with typos like mad. Once you get used to it, it becomes pretty handy.

You can turn it off if you want to - I had a few wierd messages like the one above so opted to spell correctly in the first place!

To turn it off:

Settings-->General-->Keyboard-->Auto Correction Off

I saw one on twitter but couldn't find it it went something along the lines of

Kid: Mum would it be OK if I come back at 3am
Mum: No, if you do that I'm going to lick you out
Kid: Err mum that's gross
Mum: I mean it
Kid: lick?
Mum: sorry I meant lock.
