Sent from iPhone
Sorry, can someone explain to me why folk think it's vital that I know they have an iPhone?
It's like me saying: "the time on my Omega is..."

Omega isn't owned by Microsoft yet.
I think it is MS's way of shouting to the world another user has signed up.
If they buy Omega though, it probably won't be long before watches are trained to send twitter messages to your outlook contacts that you have bought a new watch

Yes it's willy waving to some degree, but also useful for the recipient to know, as replies are usually sparse and may contain typos. If they know it's coming from a mobile device, they are usually more tolerant.

It's just the default signature on the iPhone, the Blackberry has "Sent from my Blackberry".

aaah, so that's the problem then... user error
I quite like the iphones, but I think there's better out there to do the same thing - they were too long releasing it and the fact that the first generation one was inferior technology to everything that was coming out didn't help...
Has anyone tried the new touch screen blackberry? Any good?

Sent from iPhone
I have an iPhone and I deleted that message, however when I do get messages from people that say "sent from iphone/blackberry" etc at least you know they are on the go and not in the office and in that canse one can be forgiving if the message is very short and sweet.
I think its is just added advertising by the manufacurer, like the nokia ringtone.

What about 'sent from mobile'? Is the message automatic?

When I first got my iPhone I left that activated as it was new and all that jazz and I, errm, wanted to show off! Didn't take me long to delete it though!

I suppose it's advertising for Apple if people forget (or don't realise!).

Did you mean "Apple"?
My CowBerry (so called because when sat on a table the vibrate function makes it sound like it's Moo-ing) appends "Sent from my mobile device" - which is useful IMO as replies aren't always as detailed (or sensical) when typed on teeny keys!
