I disagree, most website owners don't know the first thing about building websites nor have the time or motivation to learn about
SEO. Why spend months learning about
SEO when you can pay someone else, of course there are
some website owners that are up to speed and could probably do a better job if they put their mind to it.

Again I'm not so sure, that would depend how well your site converts. I'd rather be No1 for 'Property' than 'Buy a house in Chipping Sodbury'. I'd say it was subjective site to site as to what you should/could target.
Interesting point is that some website owners don't even KNOW what they should be targeting.
